Aaron Mayo has been working at Beacon since December 2008. He started working at Beacon while he was still going to school and worked as a drug & alcohol technician. Later he moved up to occupational medicine. He then went back to school and returned to Beacon as a registered nurse.
“Beacon has always been supportive of my motivation to grow and learn new skills,” said Mayo. “I went from my initial degree to natural sciences with a biology degree, and then to occupational health – always having a
place to apply these new skills. Management made the transition of coming back to Beacon as an RN very easy.”
Mayo enjoys making sure Beacon clients are getting the best service possible for their particular needs. “We do a really great job at personalizing the client experience here,” said Mayo. “We work to adapt to our clients needs to ensure they are having a positive experience. Often we have employee task forces intended to improve processes and client satisfaction.”
When asked about what he valued about working at Beacon, Mayo said, “The team members here at Beacon are really strong at working as a team; both departmentally and inter-departmentally. We can always count on each other if we need help or are having a challenging time.”
Mayo has also forged strong friendships while working at Beacon. “We work really hard but know how to also have fun between the work,” said Mayo. “That has not only led to having colleagues but also having friends too.”
When asked what advice he would give to someone who is considering joining Beacon, Mayo said: “Beacon is a very hard-working company. If your passion is occupational medicine then Beacon will completely support your motivation to learn and apply your skills. The company is truly a friendly group of team-oriented individuals who can help you achieve career success.”
In his free time, Mayo likes to hike, fish, ski, and play hockey. He also enjoys spending time with his Beacon friends outside of work.
